Anyone can go into a kitchen, pull out a few ingredients, follow a recipe or improvise, and create a palatable dish. However, all of that skill (no matter how great or how little) is lost if there is a lack of heart or passion that goes into preparing the dish. My personal belief is that you can taste a cook’s passion in his or her cooking. The love that they have for food…the ingredients…the people for whom the meal is prepared—it all translates and is subsequently manifested on the plate.
