Today’s Foodism: The Birthright of All

Pearl Buck

That children are still dying from hunger … that the basic nutritional needs of many are being forsaken simply because of the price tag associated with it … that the absence of pesticides and poisons makes something more desirable and, thus, more costly … that government assistance in the form of food stamps is abused and used to purchase soft drinks ripe with sugars, alcoholic beverage mixes and candy … that all of this is occurring in 2014 is saddening. Food—nutritious, bountiful, healthy—should be a staple, a birthright, for all. For everyone.
