In Honor of “Make Up Your Own Holiday Day” – A Giveaway!

In case you haven’t yet noticed, I like to make note of a wide array of food holidays. No really, it’s true—just take a quick peek to the left of this post and you’ll see a box titled “FOOD HOLIDAYS: WEEK OF …

Some of the holidays seem to make absolutely perfect sense (like National Chocolate Chip Day, celebrated on May 15th) while others are a bit on the bizarre side of life (“Eat Outside Day” on August 31st when, typically, it’s hotter than the surface of the sun outdoors in most parts of the country…). It’s in this block of text that I list, on a weekly basis, said food holidays that are floating around out there in the foodisphere. And wouldn’t you know it … tomorrow, March 26th, is a special day indeed for one very important reason: It allows for the celebration of whatever the heck holiday you want!

March 26th is “Make Up Your Own Holiday Day!”

This makes me buzz with excitement because I have a whole slew of things I could morph into holidays. However, with this being a food-centric blog, quite naturally I feel compelled to keep things food related around these parts. Having said that, Bon Vivant would love to find out what food-related holiday you would choose to celebrate on March 26th. It’s all in fun, and you could win your choice of two food-related books:

"Around the World in Eighty Meals" by Nan Lyons

“Around the World in Eighty Meals” by Nan Lyons

OR

"The Meat Free Monday Cookbook" with forward by Paul, Stella & Mary McCartney

“The Meat Free Monday Cookbook” with forward by Paul, Stella & Mary McCartney

This is a giveaway quickie (mainly because I just thought of it a few minutes ago) which starts . . . NOW! You have until the last second of March 26th, 11:59 PM Eastern Time, to enter – a little over 27 hours from start to finish (told you it was a quickie). Tell Bon Vivant what your foodie holiday would be. The rules are simple:

In the “CARE TO COMMENT” section below this post, tell Bon Vivant what food-related holiday you would create to celebrate on “Make Up Your Own Holiday Day!” It can be zany or heartfelt; serious or goofy—but above all, it should be creative. Just have fun with it and keep it clean.

RULES and CONDITIONS:

Entrants must be 18 years or older to enter and must have a valid U.S. mailing address. One (1)* winner will be selected by an expert panel of judges (me, my dog and the UPS man), and the winner will be notified via email within 24 hours after the end of the giveaway. A valid email address is required to comment; however, this email address will ONLY be used to notify the winner. Winner must respond within 48 hours with a valid snail mail address for delivery of their chosen book. Winner will select one of either two books: “Around the World in Eighty Meals” OR “The Meat Free Monday Cookbook” as their giveaway prize. This giveaway is not affiliated in any way with the publishers of either of the books. Bon Vivant is the sole sponsor of this giveaway. Void where prohibited. No animals were harmed in the making of this giveaway. I’m not a lawyer and I don’t play one on TV. Etc. etc. etc.

*In the event the entries are so stupendously marvelous, a SECOND winner may be selected as well. Doesn’t that make you happy? Enter today!
